The tree and the stone

The tree and the stone had been neighbors
for quite some time,
and as the tree grew quickly larger,
the stone became slowly rounder and smaller

Other beings came and went
while the tree and the stone remained silent and still,
except for now and then
when they made music with the wind or the rain

♫ ♫ ♫

While sensing and calmly accepting all that was,
the tree explored the universe
and the stone shed its identity
one layer at a time
