Rainbow woman

Anh lived on the edge
of a forest
in the hallow of a very large tree
She slept on a bed of pine needles
covered with the skin of a bear,
and she ate fruit and nuts from nearby trees
and vegetables from her garden

Some of her friends,
Parrot, Monkey, Spider, and Dragonfly,
came often to visit,
and every evening Spider would weave a web
to keep the mosquitoes out
She would also leave a message
written in silk:
sometimes an image,
a flower,
sometimes the score
to a piece a music
for Anh to play on her violin,
and sometimes a poem
or simply a word
like Dance!

And so Anh danced
through life,
and all the beings in the forest
danced with her

One day after it had rained
Anh went on a walk
Birds sang and toads croaked,
and when she came to a clearing
she lay down on Great Stone

And as she was watching the clouds
slowly dance
a rainbow moved through the sky
and landed on her
She sat up,
closed her eyes
and began to meditate

When her mind had become still,
Anh began to hear Great Stone speak
silently
as waves of energy flowed through him
and into her

♫ ♫ ♫

Anh stood up and stretched
her branches into the sky
and her roots into the ground,
absorbing light and water,
drinking her fill

Firmly grounded
and able to sway with the wind,
fearless and full of love,
Anh moved gently
through the forest
and beyond
